Process Manager Steel Industry Europe

This opportunity is for a highly mobile, career-driven South African looking to join one of the top global players in the speciality steels market. You will be an experienced Process Manager, working in the metallurgy laboratory  and will support the current Ferrochrome production process with emphasis on furthering their sustainability programme, as well as the development of new FeCr products and processes, analysis of production processes and possibilities. 

The purpose of the role:

You will support the current Ferrochrome production process, while developing new FeCr products and processes and doing analysis of production processes and future possibilities, considering sustainable practices.

A newly created permanent role, you will report to the VP Ferrochrome Plant who has a long and successful career with the company.  You will also interface with other stakeholders in the ferrochrome plant, mine, sales divisions, steel melting shop and metallurgical laboratory on a regular basis.

Your keen interest and wide range of experience in this industry will allow you to make an impact in increased productivity in BA Ferrochrome as well as enhance the business’ ferrochrome production process.

Key requirements:

  • M.Sc. level or higher in process metallurgy
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in ferroalloy industry or R&D
  • Strong theoretical understanding of submerged arc furnace process
  • Capable of independent, self-guiding work
  • Good problem-solving capabilities
  • Good communication skills and fluent English (written and verbal)
