American – Bavarian Golf Tournament Co-sponsored by AIMS International Germany and the AGBC Munich

Written by: Peter Barkhurst, VP Western Europe, Managing Director, AIMS International Germany

Saturday, June 2nd, AIMS International had the honor of a first American-Bavarian Golf tournament in cooperation with the AGBC. The tournament took place in brightest sunshine at Golf Club Tegernbach (near Munich) supported by the Back Office Team of AIMS International Germany’s Friedberg branch (Patricia Heilingbrunner, Anna-Lena Teufelhart and Sarah Stegmann).

More than 40 participants, from UK, US, Venezuela, Germany and Austria enjoyed a nice play of golf, some halfway snacks, an original Bavarian Brunch and to top it all, a traditional American Barbecue.

Since ´fun´ was this first tournament’s motto, an 18 hole ´Texas Scramble´ was chosen. For this reason and in order to give all participants the opportunity to establish new contacts, these were divided into 11 flights of different origins.

Furthermore, there was a 2 hour introduction course arranged for the seven absolute novices – held by the Golf Pro Jan Keppeler – which was followed by a mini tournament on the putting green. Unluckily, some of the newcomers were missing some gear (cap, sun-screen), so sunburns were inevitable, but no severe injuries where noted.

After the successful completion of the sporting activities, all parties involved, whether participants in the tournament or the ´freshmen´ had lots of more fun tasting Keg Beer, Bavarian brunch and an early evening American-Bavarian BBQ at the Clubhouse of Tegernbach GC.
